Professur mit eigener Forschungs- und Lehrstruktur. Ein Lehrstuhl ist eine feste Position an einer Uni, die mit einer bestimmten Themengebiet verbunden ist. Der Inhaber des Lehrstuhls, meist ein Professor oder eine Professorin, leitet die Forschung, Organisation und die Lehre in diesem Fachbereich und hat hierfür weiteres Personal und zusätzliche finanzielle Mittel. Der Lehrstuhl ist eine zentrale Einheit innerhalb einer Fakultät und unterstützt die akademische und administrative Struktur der Uni. An Fachhochschulen gibt es in der Regel keine Lehrstühle.
