How do I apply for a study place?

In order to apply for a master's program at HKA, whether it is a regular program or a continuing education master's program, please use the online HKA application portal. Please use the links below for a brief guide and for the list of degree programs for which you can currently apply. In addition, you can directly access the applicant portal if you do not need the instructions.

How do I apply for a study place?

Application for a master’s program at HKA is done online only. As a second step, you need to send your application documents to HKA by mail, with a few exceptions. For the following degree programs, you do not need to send the documents to HKA after applying online:

  • Automotive Systems Engineering
  • International Management
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Mechatronics
  • Robotics & Artificial Intelligence in Production
  • Business Administration & Engineering

The regular application deadline for the winter semester 2024/25 ended on July 15, 2024. The application procedure for the summer semester 2025 will start at the end of October 2024.

For which degree program can I apply now?

You can apply into the first or into the higher semester of a regular master's program, and in addition HKA offers a number of part-time master's programs, for which the application procedure is also organized via the HKA application portal. 

Master, first semester

The application deadline for the winter semester 2024/25 was July 15, 2024. Application will be possible again for the summer semester 2025 entry. You can apply for the following master's programs starting by the end of October 2024:

Professional part-time master’s programs

You can apply for the following professional part-time master's programs for the winter semester 2024/25 entry via the HKA application portal, which is open from April 29 to July 15, 2024.

Advanced semester

The application portal is open for applications to a higher semester for winter semester 2024/25 entry from April 29, 2024 to October 7, 2024.

Please apply directly via the University's application portal. For all degree programs, the application to a higher semester must be printed out and sent to the University by post, together with the documents listed during the application process, by the application deadline.

Second degree studies

Application for a second degree follows the above application steps for the first semester. In addition, we require the master's degree certificate and a letter of motivation explaining why you are interested in the second program. Information on second degree studies and the second degree tuition fee can be found on the pages on financing.
