How do I apply for a study place?
In order to apply for a master's program at HKA, whether it is a regular program or a continuing education master's program, please use the online HKA application portal. Please use the links below for a brief guide and for the list of degree programs for which you can currently apply. In addition, you can directly access the applicant portal if you do not need the instructions.
How to apply?
Application for the first semester of a master's program at Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences (HKA) is done online only, via the HKA application portal. The application portal will open at the beginning of May, 2026 for entry in winter semester 2026/27.
Important information about application:
When applying for a master's program, this can be done exclusively online. Please use the online application form only. Your application is submitted directly via the University's own HKA application portal. When finalizing your application, please activate the data you have entered online by clicking “submit online.”

Special requirements for individual degree programs
In case of some master's degree programs, there are special requirements to meet during the application process. Please find details on our Motivation/assessment page.
Master, first semester
The application deadline for the summer semester 2026 was January 15th, 2026. Application will be possible again for the winter semester 2026/27 entry. You can apply for the following master's programs starting by start of May, 2026:
Advance semester
The application portal is open for applications to a higher semester for summer semester 2026 entry from November 3rd 2025 to March 30th, 2026.
Please apply directly via the University's application portal. These are online applications only, i.e. you are not required to send any hardcopy documents to HKA.
Second degree studies
Application for a second master's degree follows the above application steps for the first semester. In addition, we require the master's degree certificate and a letter of motivation explaining why you are interested in the second program.
