Applying for the first subject semester of a bachelor’s program with restriction on admission
Step 1: Orientation test
We are legally required to have applicants take an orientation test. You can, for example, take the orientation test was-studiere-ich. If you receive a notification of admission and apply for enrollment you need to submit the certificate of participation along with the application for enrollment.
Step 2: Application for Bachelor's degree programs with restricted admission (see list):
In order to apply for admission to studies you need to use the online application form. To apply for admission into the first semester of a Bachelor's degree program you must first register with Hochschulstart.
You need the registration data from Hochschulstart to register and apply in our application portal.
Note on entering grades: Abitur points must be converted to grades and entered into the online application.
Conversion table
When you are finished with editing your application please activate the data filled in online with "submit online".
Applications for the first semester of a Bachelor's degree program are to be submitted online only. They do not have to be sent to the University by post.

In order to apply for admission to studies you need to use the online application form. In order to apply for the first semester in a non-selective Bachelor's degree program please use exclusively our application portal (registration via Hochschulstart is not necessary).

Application to a higher semester (bachelor)
Please apply directly via the University's own application portal (registration via Hochschulstart is not necessary). The application deadline for winter semester 2022/23 is Oktober 20, 2022.
The application to a higher semester must be printed out and sent to the University by post with the required documents (see application portal) by the application deadline.
Once approved, the University sets the data to "valid" and carries out the selection procedure.

Applying for an orientation semester
Orientation semester TWIN!
The orientation semester TWIN! is available and carried out in the summer semester as well as in the winter semester. Please register for this semester at the Karlsruhe Chamber of Commerce. IHK registration
Orientation semester OSKAR
In order to apply for the orientation Semester OSKAR in the winter semester only you need to use the online application form .
Note on entering grades: Abitur points must be converted to grades and entered into the online application.

When you are finished with filling in and editing your application please activate the data filled in online with "submit online". These are online-only applications. They do not have to be mailed to the University by post.
Once the application data has been accepted, the university will validate it and carry out the selection procedure.

Applying for second degree studies
Application for a second degree follows the above application steps for a Bachelor's or Master's degree program. In addition, you need to submit your Bachelor's degree certificate and a letter of motivation.
