Who are we?
The Institute of Applied Research is the cross-faculty umbrella institution for all professors at Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences who are interested in and active in research and who are not (yet) members of another institute
The Institute of Applied Research offers you an ideal infrastructure as well as a suitable organisational environment for the establishment of research groups or institutes, and enables its members to engage in interdisciplinary exchange and promotes cooperation.
What do we do?
Professors from all six faculties as well as many research assistants, doctoral students and students are part of our research team. As a result, we have expertise from very different disciplines. We make targeted use of the interdisciplinary structure in the Institute of Applied Research to look at research topics from different angles and to raise and develop new research questions.
The research projects at the Institute of Applied Research can be assigned to different research topics, resulting in a matrix structure that characterizes the interdisciplinary orientation of research at the Institute of Applied Research in a special way.

What do we offer?
The Institute of Applied Research offers the following services to companies and other research institutions:
- Research and development within the framework of research and joint research projects
- Execution and implementation of contract projects
- Preparation of scientific papers
- Support by technical consultation and/ or with the technology transfer
- Participation in and implementation of training and further education measures
