Emergency or crisis situation: How to respond?

General information:

In the event of fire:

  • When the fire alarm sounds: leave the building immediately.
  • Take the escape route as indicated on the displayed escape plans.
  • Gather at the assembly point as indicated on the escape plans.

In the event of an attempted or actual amok

  • Lock the doors
  • Barricade the rooms
  • Switch off all cell phones except one per room to avoid network overload.
  • Ensure internet access in order to obtain further information via the IT Services.
  • Keep clear of the windows and stay away from the hallways.
  • After the alarm has been lifted, go to the central assembly point at Building A/Gebäude A.

In the event of unconfirmed threats or an uncertain situation (reported threats, rumors of rampage threats, etc.)

  • Report directly to a member of the crisis team.

 

Members of the crisis management team

The University has set up a crisis management team that meets in the event of a crisis and contacts the rescue coordination center of the police. The crisis team is responsible for coordination and communication in the event of a crisis, e.g. fire, amok threats, etc.
