aura.ai project officially launched: Innovative solutions for cross-border public transport in the Upper Rhine region

The Interreg project "Borderless Authentic - Authentication in the Upper-Rhine Area with AI " (aura.ai) was officially launched with the kick-off event of the science offensive of the tri-national Upper Rhine metropolitan region.

The Interreg project "Grenzenlos authentisch - Authentifizierung am Oberrhein mit AI" (aura.ai) has now been officially launched. The Minister of Science, Research and the Arts of Baden-Württemberg, Petra Olschowski, handed over a symbolic cheque for the funding to the project consortium at the kick-off event of the Science Offensive of the tri-national Upper Rhine Metropolitan Region. The photo shows the project team after the kick-off event.

The aura.ai project aims to simplify cross-border traffic in the Upper Rhine region. The complexity of managing multiple user accounts for different transport companies will be reduced by developing automatic authentication procedures that respect privacy. The aura.ai project offers cross-border travelers a high degree of user-friendliness while ensuring high security standards. To this end, Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences, the University of Haute Alsace and the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland are working together with two companies: INIT, a company that develops software solutions for public transportation, and Neomia, a company that develops innovative authentication mechanisms.

The aura.ai project is a project of the Science Offensive of the Upper Rhine Trinational Metropolitan Region, co-financed by the Interreg Upper Rhine Program, the Région Grand Est, the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts of the State of Baden-Württemberg and the Ministry of Science and Health of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate. The Swiss Confederation and the Cantons Basel-Stadt and Aargau are contributing to the funding of the Swiss project partners.
