Applying for a Bachelor's program

Application

How do I apply for a study place?

Application for the first semester of a study program at Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences (HKA) is done online only. The application procedure for non-selective bachelor’s programs differs from that for degree programs with restriction on admission. Please use the links below for information on both procedures and for the list of degree programs for which you can currently apply. In addition, you can directly access the applicant portal if you do not need the instructions.

For which degree program can I apply currently?

The application portal is scheduled to open on April 28, 2025 for studies starting in winter semester 2025/26.

Some of our degree programs are non-selective, which means that everyone who meets the requirements will receive a study place in this program. Degree programs with restriction on admission only allow a limited number of applicants.

Non-selective programs, 1st semester

The application procedure for the winter semester is scheduled to open on April 28, 2025 and will close on September 15, 2025. You can apply for the following non-selective degree programs:

Step 1: Orientation test

In accordance with legal requirements, applicants must take the aptitude test. In order to register as a student, they need to take this test and submit proof of participation. You can, for example, take the orientationtest was-studiere-ich . Once you receive notification of admission you need to submit the certificate of participation along with the application for enrollment.

Step 2: Application

In order to apply for admission to studies you need to use the online application form. You apply using exclusively our HKA applicant portal (registration via Hochschulstart - as is the case with admission-restricted degree programs - is not necessary). When you are finished with editing your application please activate the data filled in online with "submit online". These applications are online-only applications. Do not send the application documents to the University by mail.
