Communication and Media Management

Profile

Communication and Media Management

Communicating information and knowledge effectively and correctly is becoming increasingly important due to digitalization and society's growing need for information. In the Communication and Media Management degree program, you will learn how to handle information professionally: You will be taught to phrase and manage information in an understandable way and to present it visually, using suitable media. Students work out the contents of the program themselves using practical examples from business and applied research, and implement them in extensive projects. Personal contact with professors and other students plays a major role. Working together to draw up plans, find solutions and reflect on the results prepares you comprehensively for your future working life.

Technical communication is a major focus of the program.

Technical communication forms the interface between experts, customers, consumers and the public. The aim is to convey technical information in a comprehensible manner, which is also oriented at the  target group. To this end, technical editors create a user manual, a journalistic text, a database or a multimedia application, depending on each individual case. The program covers the entire communication process - from the student's own understanding of a piece of information, analysis of the target group, choice of medium, text writing and graphic design, to the reuse of existing content and the introduction of special management systems. The future of communication also plays a central role. In addition to the use of modern media such as websites and apps, other exciting technologies such as augmented and virtual reality will be looked at.

Who is the program aimed at?

You'll communicate technical content using a variety of media, adhering to "best practices" that help you better understand the content. If this sounds interesting to you and you want to learn how to communicate and manage information in an application-oriented way, then you've come to the right place. You need to have good or very good knowledge of the German language, a basic understanding of natural sciences and technology as well as enjoy media and design. The computer is used for a large part of the work, so you should be experienced in using computers and not be afraid of information technology. In order to work in projects, you should be able to work in a team and to work in a structured manner. However, the effort will be rewarded in the end: You can put the content and key qualifications you have learned to excellent use in a wide range of exciting professions.
