Consolidation of the Cooperation with the University of Aizu in Japan
The cooperation with the University of Aizu in Japan exists since 2017 and was initiated by Prof. Ziegler thanks to his contacts in Asia. The participants of the KMM master course “Semantic Information Management” have already gone several times to Aizu in order to present their research results, until it wasn’t possible anymore due to the outbreak of the pandemic. From that time on, the cooperation could at least continue virtually through online conferences in summer and winter.
Now it was time to revive the cooperation in presence and to refine it. That’s why Prof. Ziegler traveled to Japan at the end of May 2022 in order to develop new exchange possibilities for the students to gain international experience in both countries. On this occasion, he delivered a lecture about Information and Content Management for the students of the University of Aizu.
The university focuses on Computer Science and Engineering and it offers a specialization in Technical Communication. During the lecture, the Japanese students could learn about the current status of the systems and methods used in Europe.
In order to promote student exchanges, Prof. Roy and Prof. Ziegler developed an exchange program that enables the students to study during one semester at the respective partner university. The participants who successfully complete the predefined courses out of the area of Information, Knowledge and Media Management will in the future have the possibility to acquire an “International Exchange Transcript” of both universities.
