Profile Content Internship & studying abroad

Internship semester

In the whole course of your studies, and not only in the numerous application-oriented projects, you will put what you have learned into practice. In the fifth semester you will spend an internship in a company of your choice and get to know the working world. From small companies to world market leaders in the medium-sized business sector to large global corporations: A large number of different companies are happy to welcome interns from our degree program. Frequently, a bachelor's thesis or an employment contract for the time after graduation is already arranged in the course of the internship semester.

Also, many students use the internship to gain new experience abroad. KMM students from Karlsruhe are welcome in companies all over the world.

Semester abroad

A stay abroad is always an exciting and valuable experience!

Regardless of whether you spend your internship semester abroad or a study semester at a partner university: You will not only improve your foreign language skills but also enhance your personal and professional skills by meeting people from different cultures, adjusting socially and culturally to completely new conditions, or getting to know previously unknown living and working environments.

Of course, both the responsible persons from your degree program and the International Office will actively support you in organizing your stay abroad: From worldwide cooperation agreements with other universities to financing!

Languages

German
If you decide to study Communication & Media Management, you should not only have an excellent command of German (native speaker or native speaker equivalent), but also a strong affinity for languages and a keen interest in linguistic issues.

English
As English language skills have become indispensable in the globalized world of work, the curriculum also includes courses offered by the IFS (Foreign Language Institute). The University's Foreign Language Institute ensures excellent foreign language training.

During your studies, you will reach the C1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) in the courses “Business English” and “Technical English”, in which you will usually be taught by native English speakers.

Other foreign languages
In addition to the compulsory English courses, you will choose two further language courses from the current program of the IFS (Foreign Language Institute).

You are free to choose from any of the languages on offer. The level of the language course is not fixed but depends on your individual level of knowledge (from complete beginner to C level). Taking foreign language courses not only expands your personal skills profile but also helps you to recognize the grammatical phenomena from the linguistics courses on the KMM degree program in the foreign languages and apply them there in a contrastive manner.
