Technology-Entrepreneurship

Profile

Ready for technology and innovation

Do you want to start a business? Are you going to take over the management of your parents' business in the foreseeable future? Or would you like to bring new ideas into existing companies and implement them there? Then the three-semester Master's program in Technology-Entrepreneurship (TEEM) is the right choice for you!

The program enables you to develop your own entrepreneurial aspirations in a practice-oriented manner (for example, by a technology project) by supplying you with the necessary theoretical-scientific, legal, and procedural tools (e.g. contract law or the procurement of venture capital). A close link between the University, companies and the start-up ecosystem, which contribute their know-how to the program in various ways, makes this program special.

The Master’s program in Technology-Entrepreneurship is regularly ranked successfully in the CHE ranking .

3 Specializations available

You choose one of the specializations in the second semester of study:

  • Start-ups
  • Corporate Entrepreneurship (Intrapreneurship)
  • Company Succession

An important feature of this degree program is that it can be tailored to your personal situation and goals: Whether you will join your parents' business or want to start your own business. Your plans are in the foreground and you will receive competent support in implementing them.

Most courses take place in the form of seminars. In addition, there are individual projects, case studies, excursions and company presentations. Small groups and interdisciplinary exchange are characteristic of this degree program.

And after graduating? Your career!

The Technology-Entrepreneurship Master is application-oriented: You will carry out application-oriented projects (Technology Project I and II) and deal with new entrepreneurial ideas. At best, you will develop your own start-up project even during your studies, form up a start-up team and make valuable contacts. This will allow you to hit the ground running immediately after graduation. If you prefer to work in academia and research, the option of a doctorate is also open to you.

Who is the program aimed at?

We are looking for applicants who have successfully completed a first degree in engineering, information technology, natural sciences, or economics. A keen interest in entrepreneurial issues, a clear goal in mind and, last but not least, a good flair for innovation are important qualities that you should bring to the program. In addition, you should already be familiar with business ideas (for new companies) or growth ideas (for established companies). When applying for this degree program, you will have to present a concept and your motivation for entrepreneurial activities in writing and, if necessary, also show these in a personal selection interview.

What does the TEEM program demand from you?

Future students are expected to be highly self-motivated, creative, enthusiastic, assertive, capable of networked thinking and, above all, have an affinity for entrepreneurial issues. The TEEM student group is interdisciplinary. Here, for example, business economists work on issues together with computer scientists or engineers, thus the heterogeneity of the group is turned into a great asset.

You should have:

  • A high level of interest in entrepreneurial issues
  • Strongly developed ability to think and act as an entrepreneur
  • Specific business idea, growth strategy or turn-around strategy
  • Independence
  • Resilience
  • Determination and perseverance
  • Good proficiency in German and English

A graduate talks about his experiences

After completing his Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Engineering at HKA, Fabian Radermacher opted for the Technology-Entrepreneurship Master's program.

"For me, the decisive factor in choosing the program was that it is application-oriented and carried out in step with actual practice. By means of the specializations (Start-up, Corporate Entrepreneurship, and Company Succession), I additionally have the opportunity to specialize on top of the elective subjects. In addition, the technology projects allow students to work on our own ideas and, in the best case, to initiate a company start-up."
