Technology-Entrepreneurship
Structure of the study program
The Master’s program in Technology-Entrepreneurship consists of 3 semesters and starts annually in winter semester.
In the first two semesters of study, compulsory modules cover the diverse aspects of entrepreneurial issues. In the Technology Project module (1st and 2nd semester), you can work on your own start-up project or carry out the technology project in cooperation with a company.
In addition to the compulsory modules, you have several options for individual specialization. For example, in the second semester you choose one of three possible specialization modules from the areas of Start-ups, Corporate Entrepreneurship, or Company Succession. In the third semester, two elective modules offer the opportunity to specialize in various areas (e.g. data science, robotics, or platform economics). In addition, you will complete your Master's thesis in the third semester and take the Master's colloquium.

The Start-up specialization is aimed at students who want to acquire skills in taking a problem from analysis to idea development and ultimately to founding a new company or start-up. This involves working systematically in project teams on a specific project and idea, which can also be proposed by the students, covering various process steps and iterations up to formulating the business case for financing. Students are prepared to set up their own company or become part of a start-up team.
Topics such as idea generation, market analysis, persona and beachhead market definition, “customer lifetime” and “cost of customer acquisition” calculations, and the formulation of a business case for the financing rounds of a start-up are taught and practiced using a specific project. Additionally, topics such as assembling the founding team and defining different roles within the team are covered.
Course content in a nutshell:
+ Disciplined Entrepreneurship: The MIT Way to Build a Start-up according to Bill Aulet
+ Fundamentals of the Customer Development Approach according to Steve Blank and Bob Dorf
+ Team Building, Team Forming, and Team Roles

The Corporate Entrepreneurship specialization is aimed at students who want to successfully design and implement innovative business ideas and models within established companies. The focus is on the unique opportunities, challenges, and framework conditions of entrepreneurial activity in established firms.
The lectures in this specialization cover relevant tools, formats, and aspects of corporate entrepreneurship—from strategic embedding, management basics, and accelerators to the venture client model and post-merger integration of young companies. The content is delivered through lectures, discussions, group and individual work, role plays, and guest lectures from the field. A specific corporate entrepreneurship project, implemented with an established company, is also part of the specialization. This allows students to apply previously learned methods directly and gain insight into the corporate entrepreneurship activities of the company partner through cooperation and exchange.
