Neuer Kurs "Deutsch für den Beruf"

Im Sommersemester bietet das IFS einen neuen Deutschkurs an: Deutsch für MINT-Berufe (C1/C2, 5 ECTS).
Der Kurs bereitet internationale Studierende mit DSH Prüfung oder TestDAF auf die sprachlichen Herausforderungen im Praktikum oder beim Berufseinstieg vor.

Die Kursteilnehmer/-innen üben im Kurs, Projektmeetings zu moderieren, Projektinhalte zu präsentieren und komplizierte technische Details zu erklären. Die Studierenden schreiben Zusammenfassungen komplexer Sachverhalte, die sie in Originaltexten auf der Projekthomepage, Flyern und Powerpointfolien des tatsächlich an der HKA durchgeführten Projekts „Sophia“ finden. Sie lernen angemessen in Konfliktsituationen, die anhand von Rollenkarten inszeniert werden, in schriftlicher und mündlicher Form zu reagieren, Verlaufs- und Ergebnisprotokolle zu erstellen, Termine per E-Mail zu koordinieren, Meetings in Präsenz und online zu organisieren und zu moderieren. Bei der Erstellung der Texte wird auch der Einsatz von KI thematisiert und experimentell geübt.

This seminar consists of 4 key modules plus a JobLunch:

1. Intercultural Preparation for the German Job Market: Develop an understanding of the cultural expectations of your potential German employer. Learn to anticipate cultural conflict situations in the applications process and practise a culture specific approach to deal with them.

2. Profile Development and Career Planning: Learn how to draw a comprehensive picture of your personal development, including all characteristics crucial for a successful application.

3. From CV to Cover Letter: Essential Job Application Skills: Learn how to structure an effective CV and write a professional cover letter that meets employer expectations.

4. Job Interview Training: Know what to expect in German Job interviews, how to prepare und present yourself with confidence

JobLunch: Meet company representatives and learn about everyday work life in Germany, what are future expectations in a specific field and what competencies you need

Excursion with company visits and small career fair

Join us for an exciting Career Day in the Black Forest!

Embark on a bus tour from Karlsruhe Main Station to the beautiful Black Forest, where you'll visit two family-owned, internationally active companies. After the tours, enjoy a delicious lunch at Campus Schwarzwald. In the afternoon, you'll have the opportunity to meet companies actively seeking international students for internships and entry-level positions.
The employers would love to learn more about you before meeting you on April 28th. Please fill out the Skill Profile (available in both German and English) and send it to cordelia.makartsev@h-ka.de.

After registering on Ilias and sending your skill profile, please pay a deposit of 10 Euros at office F 009 to secure your place. The deposit will be refunded to you after you attend the Career Day. However, if you fail to attend, the deposit will not be refunded.
Deadline for registration: April 5th!

9:30 a.m. Visit to the J. Schmalz GmbH, a globally active group which products are used in logistics applications as well as in the automotive industry, in the electronics sector or furniture production
11:00 a.m. Visit to fischerwerke GmbH & Co.KG, a group with 4,700 employees worldwide which produces anchors, construction modules and electronic systems
12:30 p.m. You are invited to have lunch together at the Campus Schwarzwald
2 p.m. Welcome at the Campus Schwarzwald and short introduction of the participating companies
2:15 - 4:15 p.m. Market place: small Career Fair with networking opportunities
4:30 p.m. Return to Karlsruhe
6 p.m. Back at Karlsruhe Main Station

JobLunch for Electrical Engineering

Listen to experienced electrical engineers as they discuss their daily work, the challenges they face, and what to expect in the future of engineering. They will share valuable insights from their careers, including their experiences with job applications, navigating career paths, and working on innovative projects. This session will provide you with a deeper understanding of the profession and offer practical advice for aspiring engineers.

During the session, we’ll be providing lunch to ensure that no one has to attend the afternoon activities on an empty stomach!
