Flow laboratory

The ITFD's flow laboratory is equipped with several wind tunnels and test benches as well as modern measurement technology. In addition to a thermal wind tunnel, which can be operated open or closed, there is also a transparent suction wind tunnel and a free-blowing wind tunnel.

Thermal wind tunnel

Characteristics
Max. mass flow3.5 kg/s
Max. pressure ratio1,6
Temperature range20 °C to 120 °C
Turbulence intensity0.2 % to 12 %
Application examplesHeat transfer measurements, research on transitional boundary layers, turbulence structure, turbulence spot kinematics, riblets
Measurement technologye.g. LDA, CTA, hot film, pneumatic probes, IR thermography, heat transfer

Transparent suction wind tunnel
