Mechanical Engineering

Study content

The standard period of study for the Master's in Mechanical Engineering is three semesters. Each semester 30 ECTS credit points are awarded. 

When you begin your studies, you will choose one of the following two specializations:

  • Digitalization in Product Design (DPE)
  • Energy Efficiency in Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Environmental Technology

The final Master's thesis in the third semester can be written either at the university or in cooperation with a company - even abroad.

First semester

Second semester
Personnel and business management
Selected chapters of mathematics
Simulation methods in thermofluid dynamics
Research and development project 2
Specialization 1: Digitalization in Product Design
– Selected chapters in engineering design
Specialization 2: Energy Efficiency in Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Environmental Technology
– Efficiency in refrigeration and air conditioning

 

Third semester
Elective module
Master’s thesis

Languages

For the most part, the courses are held in German, some courses are held in English. Students can improve their language skills in lessons held by native speakers at the university's own Foreign Language Institute.
