Baden-Württemberg-STIPENDIUM

With the Baden-Württemberg-STIPENDIUM, the Baden-Württemberg Foundation promotes the international exchange of particularly qualified young people.

The scholarships benefit both students from the state of Baden-Württemberg and from abroad. In this context, the BW-STIPENDIUM scholarship program aims not only at supporting individuals, but also at strengthening ties between universities in Baden-Württemberg and abroad for further cooperation. Therefore, students of Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences can only apply for a BW-STIPENDIUM if they will study at a HKA partner university within the scope of an exchange agreement. Stays supported by the Erasmus program are not eligible for funding.

Selection criteria and procedural guidelines

The Baden-Württemberg Foundation's guidelines for the BW-STIPENDIUM state:

“One goal of the Baden-Württemberg-STIPENDIUM is to create strong ties between the scholarship holders and the state of Baden-Württemberg. The Baden-Württemberg Stiftung continues to expand the global network of scholarship holders and alumni. It is supported by the Regional Chapters and the Association of Scholarship Holders and Friends of the Baden-Württemberg-STIPENDIUM.”

In your application letter, please state how you would like to support the Foundation in this endeavor and thus contribute to the expansion of the worldwide network of scholarship holders.

Only students who will study at a partner university of Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences within the scope of an exchange agreement – i.e. without having to pay tuition fees – are eligible to apply. Study semesters at Erasmus partner universities of HKA cannot be funded.

Only fully accredited study semesters abroad will be funded. Therefore, please specify in the Learning Agreement which subjects are to be credited.

Only students with a good to very good academic record who also demonstrate a certain degree of social commitment and intercultural competence are eligible to apply. These criteria play an equally important role in the evaluation by the selection committee.

In the selection process for the scholarship, preference will be given to study semesters within structured programs, especially dual or multiple degree programs. The selection committee endeavors to consider applicants from all faculties, with the selection being made in proportion to the past performance of the individual faculties or study programs with regard to their outbound mobility. In individual cases, alternative funding opportunities – such as PROMOS – are also taken into account in the selection process; an accumulation of scholarships is not allowed. Furthermore, the selection is made under the aspects of equal opportunities and equal chances (consideration of foreign students and severely disabled students in the sense of the Severely Disabled Persons Act).

Application

Students from foreign partner universities who plan to study at the HKA within the framework of an exchange agreement must inquire at their home university whether they are eligible for a BW-STIPENDIUM. The application is then also made via the home university.

Students at Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences can apply to the HKA International Office for the scholarship places advertised by HKA by March 31 of each year for a start of studies in the following academic year, i.e. in the next winter semester and the following summer semester. At the end of April, the nomination is submitted to the Baden-Württemberg Foundation, and in mid-June, the Foundation announces its selection decision.
