Erasmus+ applications for internships starting up to and including 31 August 2026 are currently being accepted and funded under Project 2025.

Attention – Important Update: As the funding available for programme countries under Project 2025 has now been exhausted, students undertaking internships in programme countries starting between 01/09/2026 and 31/12/2026 must now apply under Project 2026 via Mobility Online. This also applies to students undertaking internships in partner countries.

For internships starting between 01/01/2027 and 31/08/2027 , registration will open on 02/11/2026. Further information and the application links can be found here.

+++ Important changes in Project 2026 +++

In Project 2026, both study mobility periods (SMS) and traineeship mobility periods (SMP) will only be financially funded for a maximum of 105 days. As compensation, the monthly gross salary limit for internships will be increased from EUR 1,500 to EUR 2,000. The Top-Up for employed students will no longer be available.

Reminder: Under Project 2025, mobility periods are still financially funded for up to 135 days. The monthly gross salary limit for internships is EUR 1,500, and the Top-Up for employed students can still be applied for.

*Update: 16.06.2026*

+++ Funding places outside Europe fully allocated for the following Universities and Higher Education Institutions +++

Funding for internships in partner countries (outside the EU) has already been fully allocated for some universities and higher education institutions. This applies to internships starting in the winter semester 2026/2027 (placement start dates between 1 September and 31 December 2026). New registrations for internships outside the EU, the EEA, Turkey, Serbia and North Macedonia by students from these higher education institutions can no longer be accepted with immediate effect, or only after consultation if there are any available places on the waiting list left. Please note that no further registrations will be accepted for internships in partner countries starting on or before 31 August 2026. The above applies to the following higher education institutions:

  • Evangelische Hochschule Ludwigsburg
  • Duale Hochschule Heilbronn
  • Hochschule Ravensburg-Weingarten
  • KIT
  • University of Heidelberg (waiting list full)
  • University of Hohenheim

+++ Erasmus+ Internships in the United Kingdom and Switzerland from 2027 +++

The United Kingdom and Switzerland will continue to be classified as Erasmus partner countries until and including the 2026/27 academic year. Starting with the 2027 Erasmus+ project cycle, both countries will once again participate fully in the Erasmus+ programme as programme countries. The first mobilities under this new status will be possible from the 2027/28 academic year onwards.

What does this mean for you?

Internships funded under Project 2026, i.e. those in:

  • Application Round 1 (internship start between 1 September 2026 and 31 December 2026)
  • Application Round 2 (internship start between 1 January 2027 and 31 August 2027)

will continue to be funded as mobilities to partner countries. For these internships, only limited funding and a restricted number of places per home university are available. We therefore recommend submitting your complete application documents as soon as possible after the start of the respective application round.

From Project 2027 onwards (for internships starting on or after 1 September 2027), the United Kingdom and Switzerland will once again be treated as programme countries. The previous restrictions applicable to partner countries will no longer apply.

+++ First Come, First Served +++

Funding is awarded on a first come, first served basis. The decisive factor is the date on which the complete, correctly completed, and signed application documents are received. Registration alone is not sufficient.

This is particularly important for applications for internships in partner countries (non-European internships), as only limited funding and a limited number of places per home university are available. Applicants are therefore strongly encouraged to submit their complete application as soon as possible after registration opens for a new application round.

+++ Erasmus+ Funding is subject to availability +++

Erasmus+ funding is subject to the availability of financial resources. Once all funds allocated to the current projects have been exhausted, no further funding commitments can be made.
