Computer Science (M.Sc.)

Three Specializations

From the wide range of elective courses, you choose five modules based on your interests. Each elective module is assigned to a specific area of specialization, so that through a strategic selection — in which we advise and support you — you can achieve an individual specialization that will be listed as such on your diploma. Of course, specialization is not mandatory. You can also consciously choose not to specialize in order to position yourself as broadly and flexibly as possible for the future. Both paths have their advantages.

Machine Learning

Automatic error detection in production, real-time language translation, and the use of autonomous robots in disaster management are just three current examples in the field of artificial intelligence made possible by Machine Learning.

In order to meet the growing demand for experts in these fields, the Machine Learning specialization teaches the necessary methodological basics paired with current application examples from practice.

Media Informatics

With the specialization in Media Informatics, you will acquire knowledge of media-relevant areas of computer science as well as a solid knowledge in the field of interactive media design. The interdisciplinary teamwork and high practical orientation is ensured by a high proportion of application-oriented and project-based teaching/learning approaches. For example, you will realize interactive installations using sensor technology and physical computing platforms and immerse yourself in virtual worlds (augmented and virtual reality) or design the dialog for a voice control system (conversational user interface).

This specialization enables you to work in particular in the field of developing intermedia applications in the IT and media industry as well as in research and development, to plan projects and to carry them out independently or in a team.

Software- & Systems-Engineering

With the increasing digitalization of our world, the systematic, engineering-based creation of software plays a special role. Because only this systematic approach will allow us to master digitalization in the long term. Of course, this not only includes a profound understanding of algorithms and architectures, but also requires in-depth knowledge of methods, tools and frameworks for the planning and implementation of complex software projects.

If you are interested in core computer science with its diverse tasks in project implementation and project management, then this is the right specialization for you.
