Study and work abroad

The International Management program includes a six-month practical study semester (internship), which is completed abroad.

In addition, students can study abroad for one semester at one of the partner universities. HKA maintains cooperations with 90 partner universities worldwide.

For those who wish to gain more extensive experience abroad, a dual degree program is available with the Universidad Nacional del Litoral (UNL) in Santa Fe, Argentina.

Practical study semester abroad (compulsory)

Usually in the fifth semester, students undergo a six-month practical study semester (internship) in a company of their choice in a non-native country. They work in a typical business field and gain experience abroad, practical work experience, in-depth knowledge in a business field, and intercultural competence. During the internship semester, you will be coached by professors from the Faculty. In addition to personal and professional development, valuable contacts for the future can be made. The practical study semester abroad is a compulsory part of the International Management program

Exchange semester abroad

For students of International Management who would like to gain further experience abroad, we offer the possibility to complete an additional study semester abroad. The voluntary study semester abroad is carried out after completion of the basic studies. There are more than 90 partner universities worldwide to choose from. Courses completed at the host university are credited at HKA (max. 30 ECTS credits). A variety of financial support is available for study abroad semesters, such as Erasmus+. A semester abroad allows you to expand your foreign language skills, gain intercultural experience, establish international contacts and grow as a person.

German-Argentine double degree program

The International Management program can be studied as a double degree program in Argentina. Students receive a Bachelor of Science from HKA and a Bachiller de Ciencias Económicas from the Universidad Nacional del Litoral (UNL) in Santa Fe, Argentina. The first four semesters take place at Karlsruhe at HKA. Students spend the fifth to seventh semesters in Argentina, the fifth and sixth semesters as study semesters at UNL Santa Fe and the seventh semester as an internship semester in Argentina. The Bachelor's thesis is written in the eighth semester in Argentina or in Germany. The double degree program is sponsored by the Deutsch-Argentinische Hochschulzentrum (German-Argentine University Center, DAHZ) . With a double degree you will gain extraordinary international experience, in-depth insights into a foreign country, through the internship also professional experience abroad, intercultural competence and grow as a person.

German-Scottish double degree program

The International Management program can be studied as a double degree program in Scotland. Students graduate with a Bachelor of Science in International Management from HKA and a BA (Hons) in Business Management from Queen Margaret University (QMU) in Edinburgh. The first four semesters take place in Karlsruhe at HKA. An internship abroad is scheduled in the fifth semester. The sixth and seventh semesters are spent in Scotland. The Bachelor's thesis is written in the eighth semester at HKA. With a double degree you will gain extraordinary international experience, in-depth insights into a foreign country, improve your English skills, and earn two full Bachelor's degrees.
