Information Design
About the program
The program is divided into basic studies (first and second semester) and advanced studies (third to seventh semester). In the fifth semester, you will complete an internship in a company of your choice (internship semester).
In the first four semesters, the fundamentals of the program are taught in turns by theory and practice in the form of small application examples, which are intended to explain central concepts and positions by way of illustration.
With this firm foundation, you are well prepared for the internship in the fifth semester. For this semester, you also have the opportunity to go abroad and actively deepen your knowledge of a foreign language.
In the sixth and seventh semesters, students work in smaller groups in so-called information design studios. Here you can conceptualize, design and produce complex information media in four different projects and set your own focus of interest. The projects are interdisciplinary and are usually supervised by several lecturers. The basic knowledge and range of subjects from the first four semesters is expanded here to include, for example, texting strategies of academic and journalistic writing, information in space, or data mining in media reception.
Finally, the program concludes with a thesis in the seventh semester. The professors will support you in selecting the topic and will be ready to advise you during the four-month processing period. After the colloquium, you will receive the academic degree Bachelor of Arts and are thus qualified to enter Master's degree studies.
