Production engineering

The research focus manufacturing technology is aimed to bring new knowledge in machining and ablation processes from research to application. The IMP works in a highly application-oriented manner in publicly funded projects or is directly commissioned by industry.

The main focus is on the following areas:

  • Milling up to 5-axis simultaneous machining
  • Turning
  • Ultrasonic vibration lapping
  • Spark erosion (wire, die sinking and orbital erosion)

The following services can be offered:

  • Feasibility studies
  • Tool life tests
  • Process analyses (e.g. force measurements, vibration analyses, high-speed recordings, ...)
  • Training courses
  • Support with application
  • Technology development and process optimization
  • Machining of special materials with defined cutting edge
