The Institute for Learning and Innovation in Networks (ILIN) works forcibly on the development of socio-technical competence in the field of conceptualization and evaluation of applied artificial intelligence (AI) methods in science, innovation and production processes. The goal is to design human-centered AI systems with transparent and comprehensible decision support and to test them with relevant stakeholders from science and industry.
Concretely, an AI demonstrator for the use case of a citation recommendationservice for supporting scientific work in scienceinstitutions and research-based companies will be designed and built. Three main objectives are pursued with the development of the AI demonstrator:
- Commissioning and testing of the self-configured ML-suitable hardware, .
- Competency building in the fields of transparent AI and AI-assisted decision support, .
- Providing a demonstrator to investigate research questions related to the above fields, .
A working prototype could find direct application in research operations at the institute as well as with interested partners from academia and industry.
