CHE University Ranking, May 2016
Each year, a third of the subjects are re-evaluated in this ranking, this time including architecture, civil and environmental engineering, mechanical engineering and mechatronics. Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences (HsKA) achieved top results with its study programs on several occasions. In particular, students were very satisfied with the overall study situation.
A top result is achieved by the mechanical engineering study programs of HsKA, which are represented four times in a top group: Completion in a reasonable amount of time, support from lecturers, relevance to the job market and profession, and the overall study situation.Students expressed all-around extreme satisfaction in all 13 individual criteria surveyed, particularly with regard to support from lecturers, support during studies, the range of courses offered, studyability, examinations, relevance to the job market and practice, support for studying abroad, and library and IT facilities.
In civil engineering, the university ranks in the top group in three categories: Graduation in a reasonable time, contact with professional practice and overall study situation. Students are particularly impressed by the support they receive from teachers, the support they receive during their studies, the ease with which they can study, the relevance of their studies to their careers, and the facilities available, including the library and IT equipment. If the international orientation of the study programs is also taken into account in the evaluation - here, too, the HsKA are in the top group - the best ranking of a university of applied sciences (Fachhochschule) is achieved in total.
Mechatronics makes it into the top group twice: for completion in a reasonable amount of time and contact with professional practice. In the ranking, these offerings also scored particularly well for their international orientation.
In architecture, HsKA is in the top group for both graduation in a reasonable amount of time and overall study situation. Particularly positively the spatial equipment and the pronounced occupation purchase were evaluated by the students thereby
Other results come from the CHE surveys of previous years. In 2015, the Informatics study programs at Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences were each in the top group in their reference to professional practice as well as in study time (completion in a reasonable amount of time). In the two bachelor's degree programs examined, computer science and media and communications informatics, the practical elements in the program, as well as the provision of experience outside the university and the practical relevance of the final theses, were rated particularly positively: Here, the university achieved the maximum number of points in each case, so that it scored 9 out of 11 possible points in the overall result. In addition, the Master's program in computer science landed in the top group for the international orientation of studies and teaching. Here, the university scored particularly well in the numerous opportunities to spend time abroad and in the teaching of foreign language skills.
In the 2014 data collection, the study programs of business informatics, media and communication science, industrial engineering, and economics, among others, were examined. Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences was able to achieve dreamlike top scores. Both in Business Informatics and in Media and Communication Studies, represented by the study program Communication and Media Management, Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences is in the top group for all central evaluation criteria: for the overall study situation, the ease of study, the support provided by lecturers, the international orientation or adherence to the standard period of study, and the practical relevance. Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences is thus one of the two best universities of applied sciences in the German-speaking world in business informatics, and one of the best three in media and communication studies!
The Business Engineering study program does almost as well: It is also in the top group in terms of the overall study situation, the support provided by lecturers, the range of courses and the practical relevance.
