Sustainability
September 5, 2024
In June of this year, the Senate of Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences (HKA) elected Prof. Dr. Christine Preisach and Prof. Dr. Andreas Heberle from the Faculty of Computer Science & Business Information Systems, along with Prof. Dr. Olivier Schecker from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering & Mechatronics, as the Senate Commissioners for Sustainability. Their terms of office will end with the current Senate’s term on August 31, 2027.
The Senate Commissioners for Sustainability are responsible for developing sustainability strategies in collaboration with the Senate and Senior Management, while also supporting the implementation of current initiatives. Their role includes integrating ongoing sustainable development activities, fostering connections among individuals engaged in sustainable development and related fields at HKA, and ensuring the efficient alignment of various initiatives. Acting as "bridge builders" between research, teaching, and administrative stakeholders, they manage sustainability-related communication in close cooperation with relevant parties. Additionally, they serve as the primary points of contact for both internal (e.g. climate managers, working groups, student initiatives) and external stakeholders involved in sustainability efforts at HKA.
