You would like to study at HKA and obtain a degree? Then you need to keep in mind that the application procedure for Bachelor's programs is different than that for Master's programs. In addition, the application procedure also depends on your school leaving certificate in case of Bachelor's degree programs.

The application deadlines for the individual degree programs can be found further down.

You have a school leaving certificate from an EU country?

Please apply online via the university portal and upload your higher education entrance qualification (HZB): This is the school leaving certificate, the overview of subjects and grades, and in some countries an additional test for university admission. Your school grades will be converted by us and entered into the portal. You will still need to submit proof of language proficiency at the latest when you register as a student.

You have a school leaving certificate from a non-EU country?

First, you need to have the Studienkolleg Konstanz check your school records and, if available, study certificates to see if you have a higher education entrance qualification (HZB). You will either receive a corresponding certificate from the Studienkolleg or have to take a preparatory year with an assessment test. Then you apply online via the university portal and upload the certificate or assessment test results. You will still need to submit proof of language proficiency at the latest when you register as a student.

You are German and have a school leaving certificate from a non-EU country?

First, you need to have the Regierungspräsidium Stuttgart (Regional Board) check your school records and, if available, study certificates to see if you have a higher education entrance qualification (HZB). Then you apply online via the university portal and upload the certificate by the Regierungspräsidium.

You have a certificate from a European School, IB Diploma, AbiBac or German-French Abitur?

Then apply directly via the university portal, your nationality does not matter. You may have to submit a language certificate when registering as a student if you did not learn German or English at school at all, or only at a low level.

You already have a Bachelor's degree and now want to study a Master's program?

Please apply online via the university portal. Application documents must be submitted by mail. You will still need to submit proof of German language proficiency at the latest when you register as a student. Applicants for Sensor Systems Technology, Geomatics and the Tricontinental Master in Global Studies must submit proof of English instead; applicants for Master's programs in economics must submit proof of German and English.

You would like to apply for a higher semester or have existing study modules credited?

You apply as described above and then additionally send us your documents by mail. If you start in the first semester and want to have existing study credits transferred you need to first talk to the module supervisors and fill out the application for credit transfer. Please hand this in to the Faculty Office within four weeks of the start of lectures.

Please log in to the university portal regularly because there we will inform you about the status of your application. There you can also download your notification of admission if you receive a place. Then you can take care of your enrollment and find out about the organization of your studies. Please also find out in good time whether you need to apply for a visa to study in Germany, and take care of your health insurance.

On the webpages of the individual study programs you can find out which special features such as pre-study work experience, letter of motivation, competence test, or assessment you may have to consider when applying.
