Despite increased use of media and virtual content that enable location-independent learning, the need for dedicated learning spaces is on the rise. One symptom of this is overcrowded rooms in libraries at colleges and universities during the exam period. For a long time now, learners have been looking for suitable learning spaces not only at their own educational institution, but also outside it.
As part of the project "Learning Libraries Karlsruhe - working and learning creatively," the aim is not only to create more learning spaces, but also to tailor them to the needs of learners and make them visible. To this end, concepts for new types of learning spaces are being devised and implemented in new learning spaces by the project participants. An important aspect of this is not only to offer individuals more learning spaces, but also to promote group work through spaces and equipment provided for this purpose. In order to make free learning spaces visible to learners, an app is being developed specifically for this purpose, which provides a clear overview of the current offerings of Karlsruhe libraries and educational institutions.
