EU4M is not a new study program for Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences (HKA), as it has been taught here for over 10 years. What is new, however, is the composition of the partners involved.
A total of four universities are participating in this Master's program, three of which belong to the INGENIUM European University: the University of Oviedo (Spain), the University of Skövde (Sweden) and HKA. SUPMICROTECH-ENSMM (France) is the fourth member of the group. There are also 23 associated partners from various countries.
The European Commission is funding the Joint Degree Program for the next 72 months and has emphasized in its evaluation the great added value that results from the fact that most of the partners belong to a European university.
The EU4M Joint Master Degree Program comprises 120 ECTS, which must be acquired in two consecutive academic years. In the first year, the four institutions offer the same academic program in different languages. In the second year, students transfer to one or two of the other partner universities or associated institutions to specialize in a subject area. EU4M students receive several degrees: one from each of the universities where they spent the first and second year of study and another joint Master's degree in mechatronics awarded by all four universities.
One of the central goals of the INGENIUM European University is to establish the inter-university INGENIUM European Campus, which will be based on open and joint degree programs and the acquisition of microcredentials, among other things. The funding of the EU4M by the European Commission shows that INGENIUM is on the right track.
