New cooperation opportunities with India

The foundation for cooperation was laid during a visit by a delegation from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) to Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences (HKA).

In late June, Prof. Altmann-Dieses, Vice-President at HKA, and representatives of the Faculties of Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics, Architecture and Civil Engineering and Electrical Engineering and Information Technology received guests from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) and engineering companies in Mumbai, India to jointly explore cooperation opportunities between the two universities.

Both universities see an excellent potential for common exchange, since India and Germany have important partnerships in the field of economic cooperation and more specifically in the field of engineering. Pune, near Mumbai, is an important base for German companies in the Indian subcontinent. Applied and project-based teaching, learning and research in German universities of applied sciences is of particular interest to the internationally active companies and NMIMS with its Mumbai campus. Student exchange and common student projects are also of great value for HKA students’ employability for internationally operating companies. Prof. Riel, Professor of Urban Transport Planning and Design, had already initiated first contacts before this visit: HKA project groups examined the traffic situation of a specific urban district in Mumbai and developed suggestions for traffic improvement. An initial exchange between students of both universities has helped in the development of these projects. The declared goal of both universities is to facilitate and expand such project work and to explore further exchange formats.
