Tricontinental Master in Global Studies

Profile Content Internship & studying abroad

On the road across three continents

TRIM is a practice-oriented degree program that offers numerous opportunities for contact both domestically and internationally, such as through guest lectures with international lecturers or company representatives. You will gain valuable experience abroad during two semesters in America and Asia (or even three semesters if you write your thesis abroad).

After the entire group of students completes the first semester (winter semester, starting in October) in Karlsruhe, you will move to the Tzu Chi University (TCU) in Hualien, Taiwan, for the second semester. The move will take place after completing the examinations in Germany, in time for the semester in Taiwan, which begins in February.

The third semester at the Universidad de Monterrey (UDEM) in Monterrey, Mexico usually begins in August. Here, too, you will have enough time to make arrangements to change your place of study.

In the fourth semester, each student writes their thesis at a location of their choice, preferably in an international company or organization. This is often a good opportunity to make contacts for your future career. The group no longer studies at the same location in the fourth semester, but the sense of cohesion remains.

Recognition of the work completed abroad is guaranteed within the framework of the TRIM cooperation agreement between the participating colleges and universities.

Costs

You will need to cover your own travel costs between TRIM locations and your living expenses during the four semesters. Additionally, a small amount of administrative fees and similar charges will be incurred (e.g., the student union fee in Karlsruhe).

What about an internship?

Ideally, you can combine your thesis in the fourth semester with an internship at a company or organization abroad.

An additional internship is not planned. Due to the structure of the degree program and the timing of location changes, you will have little time to complete a longer internship.
