This specialization is primarily geared towards modern industrial manufacturing, focusing on sustainability and resilience in addition to efficiency and economics.

As a student in this specialization, you will gain insight into the process of (digital) product development, from design to implementation in the form of a digital twin. You will be introduced to the world of automation and experience elements of sensor technology and actuators in an application context. You will also learn about the technical basics of process engineering and its importance for sustainability, e.g., in recycling. Digitalization plays a major role across all aspects of production and organization and is explored in greater depth through the examination of cyber-physical systems.

As a graduate of this profile, you will have the methods and tools to plan, organize, implement, and control industrial production from the ground up under the aforementioned boundary conditions. You will use production planning and logistics tools, project management, and your engineering sciences understanding of processes and products. Furthermore, you will be able to increase added value in existing production structures and optimize processes for sustainability.

In interaction with manufacturing, you will be able to develop and design products with digital tools and optimize them for production. These can be everyday items (consumer goods) as well as capital goods such as systems or machines. You are not restricted to a specific sector and can apply the skills you have acquired in a wide variety of industries.

Here we offer an overview of the modules of the specialization in Production Management.
