Internship & studying abroad

The Business Management program includes a six-month practical study semester (internship), which has to be completed abroad in the case of the International Management specialization.

In addition, students can voluntarily  study abroad for one semester at one of the partner universities. HKA maintains cooperations with 180 partner universities worldwide.

Those students who appreciate an even more comprehensive international experience have the option of participating in one of the two double degree programs. These programs are offered in cooperation with the Universidad Nacional del Litoral (UNL) in Santa Fe, Argentina, and Queen Margaret University (QMU) in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Internship Semester

Usually in the fifth semester, students undergo a six-month practical study semester (internship) in a company of their choice. They work in a typical business environment and broaden their experience in a business management field, and gain practical work experience in general. During the internship semester, you will be coached by professors from the Faculty. In addition to personal and professional development, valuable contacts for the future can be made. For the International Management specialization, it is mandatory to spend the internship semester abroad in order to gain international experience and develop intercultural skills.

Exchange semester abroad

For students of Business Management who would like to gain further experience abroad, we offer the possibility to complete an additional study semester abroad. The voluntary study semester abroad is carried out after completion of the basic studies.

There are over 180 partner universities worldwide to choose from. Courses completed at the host university are credited at HKA (max. 30 ECTS credits). A variety of financial support is available for study abroad semesters, such as Erasmus+. A semester abroad allows you to expand your foreign language skills, gain intercultural experience, establish international contacts and grow as a person. This will make you particularly interesting for the job market.
