Space and Well-Being - The fifth edition of the 10 Days of INGENIUM

The member universities of the INGENIUM European University Alliance look back with great enthusiasm on the fifth edition of the 10 Days of INGENIUM, which ended on May 30, 2025. The event included Junior and Senior Summer Schools, the Staff Academy and working meetings, and combined interdisciplinary excellence, international exchange and practical training - for both students and staff.

Junior Summer School – Cultivating Resilience in Academia

26–30 May 2025, University G. d’Annunzio Chieti-Pescara (UdA)

Under the motto “Cultivating Resilience in Academia”, Bachelor students from all ten INGENIUM partner universities took part in an interactive program focusing on mental health, mindfulness and coping with studies.

Workshops on stress management, self-confidence and mental and physical health provided participants with valuable strategies for dealing with the challenges of everyday academic life. Particular attention was paid to experience-based learning: the students tried out specific methods to build long-term resilience.

In addition, the program offered numerous intercultural activities that brought the European idea of INGENIUM to life - including joint explorations of the picturesque Abruzzo region on foot, by bike and in a kayak.

“This week showed me once again what great potential there is in intercultural understanding and conscious self-awareness and that learning is more than just digesting knowledge, it also is a process of growing and experiencing together with others and with oneself.” Samed, participant of the Junior Summer School

Senior Summer School – From Earth Surface to Space

19–23 May 2025, University o Crete, Heraklion

Master's students and PhD candidates came together at the Voutes Campus of the University of Crete in Heraklion to discuss current scientific, technological and socio-political issues relating to climate change and space technologies under the guiding theme “From Earth Surface to Space”.

In practice-oriented sessions and workshops, a wide range of skills were imparted - from the use of satellite data for environmental monitoring, to technology and innovation management, to the analysis of international space policy. Two particular highlights were the visit to the Geopark of Anogeia and the Skinakas Observatory at night.

The aim of the Senior Summer School was to understand the role of science and technology in dealing with the climate crisis and to develop concrete strategies for action. The participants not only took away new specialist knowledge, but also valuable contacts in an international research environment.

"What made the INGENIUM Summer School special for me was the diversity of people. Students from ten different countries with very different fields of study came together - and there was a valuable exchange that not only resulted in new perspectives, but also real friendships." Franca, participant of the Senior Summer School

Staff Academy – Innovation in Teaching and Research

Ten partner universities, ten sessions, one vision: the Staff Academy of the INGENIUM European University offered lecturers a platform to present and discuss innovative didactic concepts. The focus was on student-centered learning, blended learning and the connection of research and teaching.

Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences (HKA) was represented by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Peter Becker (Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics). In his lecture “Online Assessment applying the STACK concept”, he presented practical options for digital performance assessment in the STEM field and provided impetus for the further development of digitally supported task formats.

The Staff Academy not only strengthened the didactic skills of the participants, but also promoted the European exchange of knowledge and future cooperation projects within the Alliance.
