In her speech, the Rector of UMPSA, Prof. Dr. Yatimah Alias, praised the anniversary as an expression of a mature, trusting and strong partnership between two universities from different continents that share common values and goals to promote globally oriented education.
"Since the beginning of the cooperation in 2010, over 400 graduates have been trained in the joint UMPSA-HKA double degree program, which combines the precision of German engineering with the creativity and perseverance of Malaysian students. These graduates not only gain two degrees, but also access to two cultures and a shared spirit of connectedness that makes them vibrant bridges between Malaysia and Germany."
Outstanding initiatives in recent years include the DRAIS 3D project, which brings together students from Germany, Malaysia and Ethiopia in the development of a 3D-printed, functional racing bike.
Prof. Dr. Yatimah also thanked the German Embassy in Malaysia, the industrial partners, the Global Board of Studies (GBOS) and the university management for their continuous support and commitment to this pioneering cooperation.
"We started 15 years ago with a vision. Together we have overcome challenges with perseverance, and tonight we celebrate our success with pride. This is the true spirit of a partnership that creates a lasting legacy," she emphasized.
She also reiterated UMPSA's ambition to further expand cooperation and explore new fields such as digitalization, sustainable engineering, green technologies and artificial intelligence.
On the HKA side, Prof. Ahmadi presented the further development of the aerospace courses at the HKA. The possibility of cooperation in studies and research will be discussed in further talks.
The event ended with a convivial exchange between alumni and industry partners to further deepen future educational cooperation between Malaysia and Germany.
The UMPSA Nexus Night 2025 took place on November 7, 2025 at The Zenith Hotel in Kuantan, Malaysia.
