Duration: 2008 - 2012
Overview
The challenge of CCMSE is the derivation of an improved simulation environment capable of treating scale and process bridging applications in materials development and process optimization. Together with the cooperation partners, expertise in various simulation techniques will be brought together in order to build up interfaces for combining different software packages with the aim of computing complex process chains.

The overall aim of CCMSE is the development of efficient simulation techniques for a scale bridging modeling of microstructure formation and for a process bridging desciption of material and component treatments.
Based on computationally intensive simulations, correlations between microstructure and properties will be derived and methods for optimizing material properties and processing conditions in production and manufacturing procedures will be developed.
By transferring and adapting modeling and simulation methods to, for example, geological systems, a comparison of structure evolution is planned. The concepts will be set up in a general way to allow for applications to various material systems.
