Compressor Technology

Compressor is one of the four core components of a compression refrigeration cycle - and thus, the backbone of the vast majority of refrigeration and air conditioning systems as well as heat pumps.

The ideal machine is characterized by an energy-efficient, reliable and low-noise running operation. However, the versatility of different plants and systems in refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump technology and their various requirements require optimal interaction of all components. The endowed professorship for compressor technology is dedicated to the individual questions relating to compressors and their integration into modern, energy-efficient systems - both in mobile and stationary operation.

Current research topics are:

  • Energy optimisation and system integration of compressors
  • Acoustic and vibration optimization of compressors and aggregates
  • Digitalisation of compressors and systems

Our modern equipment in the compressor and acoustics laboratory allows both basic research and application-oriented processing of topics.

Technology transfer in cooperation with industrial partners, especially small and medium-sized companies, is of great importance to us.
