Electric mobility to tinker with and try out

Solar truck roadshow ready to go!
The solar truck of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology (EIT) is ready to go. It offers the possibility to present exhibits and experiments directly on site at schools or fairs. With its special superstructures, the solar truck combines aspects of electromobility with renewable energies. The retractable solar roof is a core feature of the truck.

Electricity generated on site
It is equipped with 6 solar modules with a total output of 2200 watts. The generated voltage of 24 volts can be used to operate directly connected equipment. In addition, an alternating voltage of 230 V is generated from the battery voltage. In this way, the electricity required for the roadshow is generated on site. The technology for this is visible in a glass superstructure. With this roadshow, the Faculty would like to arouse interest in topics related to electrical engineering and information technology.

Showing what's behind STEM subjects.
"We want to show students how renewable energy generation works," explains Professor Manfred Strohrmann, initiator of the project. "And provide a vivid example of what can be done with science subjects, the STEM subjects, after school in university or in a career. Plus, the solar truck gives our students an opportunity to take in course content.” The EIT roadshow is now on tour, and schools can book it.
