Lifetime Achievement in Online Teaching Awarded
Special award for Prof. Jürgen Walter for his continuous development of online teaching
January 18, 2021
Due to the abundance of the many, very good submissions for the internal teaching award, Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences awarded two special prizes during the 2021 New Year's Reception for the first time and perhaps uniquely in addition to its own teaching award.
Prof. Jürgen Walter from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics, who is taking a well-deserved retirement after this winter semester, was honored with a special award from the university for his life's work in online teaching. "He has driven the digitization of teaching at our university for many years," said Prorector Prof. Dr. Angelika Altmann-Dieses in her laudation, "congratulations and a big thank you for this tireless commitment!"
The Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences also thanks Prof. Jürgen Walter for his attachment to it beyond his active period of service, because - in keeping with his previous style - the well-deserved retirement for him is only relative: on the one hand, he will remain with the university for at least one more semester, because he will still be lecturing until a successor has been found for him. On the other hand, he will still be happy to assist the HsKA with medially technically demanding transmission projects.
