The event will take place at the ZKM | Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe.

The focus is on the question of how we as a society can deal with the increasing spread of false information, manipulated images and AI-generated content - and what role education, media literacy and technological enlightenment play in this.

The symposium is part of the recently launched project "Reality Check: Fake or Fact in the Age of Generative AI", which is being carried out by IIIX and funded by the Carl Zeiss Foundation. Contributions are currently being sought for the symposium - for example in the form of workshops, lectures or interactive educational formats.

What can participants expect?

The symposium brings together experts from science, (media) education, technology and culture with practitioners, young people and the interested public. The aim is to share findings, present concrete solutions and develop new perspectives.

Planned are among others:

  • Keynotes by renowned experts on disinformation, AI and social change
  • Panels and presentations on best practices, challenges and solutions
  • Workshops and hands-on stations for practical, tangible approaches to the topic
  • Interactive knowledge islands with prototypes and learning opportunities
  • Premiere of a VR/tablet application that allows young people to experience the effects of fake news and AI fakes in a virtual environment
  • Accompanying materials for schools that are developed together with educators

We are still looking for contributions for the symposium "The Fabrication of Truth" on 24.10.2025 - creative ideas and perspectives are expressly welcome.

Contributions welcome: Help shape it now!

Contributions are currently being sought for the symposium. Teachers, students, educational stakeholders, developers, researchers, artists and interested parties who would like to contribute their own ideas to the topic - for example through
