International applicants with German university entrance qualification

You are a non-EU national but have obtained the higher education entrance qualification in the Federal Republic of Germany, or you have obtained a higher education entrance qualification by graduating from a German school abroad? This means that you will be treated like Germans in the admission procedure (so-called "Bildungsinländer").

German applicants with a non-EU university entrance qualification

You are a German citizen and have acquired a university entrance qualification (HZB) abroad? In this case, you need to have this recognized by the Regierungspräsidium Stuttgart (Regional Administrative Authority). You will need this certificate of recognition for applying, as it must be uploaded in the course of the application process. For more information, see the International Applicants page.

Applicants from EU countries

You have acquired your university entrance qualification in an EU country? In this case, you can apply to HKA without prior recognition of your university entrance qualification. The HKA International Office determines whether the application requirements are met.

Journeymen who have completed two years of vocational training and have three years of work experience in a subject-related profession are also qualified to take up studies. For this, you need written proof that you were counseled by the professor in charge of the relevant study program. In addition, you must successfully pass an aptitude test for vocationally qualified persons at Konstanz University of Applied Sciences or a comparable test.
