"10 Days of INGENIUM": Experiencing the European University

The event once again brings together students, lecturers and staff from all ten alliance partners

February 14, 2024

Since 2023 HKA has been part of the INGENIUM European University, an alliance of ten European universities that aims to establish a joint European campus and enable easy international mobility for all students, teaching staff and employees. A special opportunity to gain international experience is provided by the “10 Days of INGENIUM”. They take place at two partner universities each semester and serve as a meeting point for university members from all ten alliance partners.

In June 2023, HKA hosted the first edition of the "10 Days of INGENIUM" and welcomed 30 students for a Junior Summer School and more than 40 colleagues from INGENIUM European University to its campus. TThis was immediately followed by a transfer to the Università degli Studi "G. d'Annunzio" Chieti - Pescara in Italy (see press release). The series is now continuing. From February 5 to 9, 2024, master students, doctoral candidates and post-docs came together at the University of Crete in Greece for a Senior Winter School on the topic of "The Carob Challenge: A Paradigm of Sustainable Development and Innovation". This week, the baton was passed to Munster Technological University in Cork, Ireland, which is offering bachelor students the opportunity to work intensively on "Entrepreneurialism, Cybersecurity and Sustainability" from February 12 to 16.

Parallel to the Winter Schools, meetings of the various working groups and the INGENIUM Steering Committee take place, as well as the Staff Academy, which serves to exchange ideas about innovative teaching methods. In addition, the INGENIUM Alliance Council will meet on February 14 to discuss the strategic direction of the INGENIUM European University with members of the senior leadership of all alliance partners. HKA will be represented by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Franz Quint, who is interim Vice-President for Academic and International Affairs. He is enthusiastic about the atmosphere and the exchange of ideas at the "10 Days of INGENIUM": "The INGENIUM European University is a huge opportunity for current and future HKA students. With INGENIUM we are positioning ourselves even better internationally in teaching and research and developing into an international campus in the process."

A varied supporting program with insights into the cultures of the host universities rounds off the "10 Days of INGENIUM". For example, a taster class in Irish dancing or an excursion to local places of interest offer participants the opportunity to get to know each other and network in a relaxed atmosphere.

If you are interested in taking part in the "10 Days of INGENIUM" yourself, you don't have to wait long. In the 2024 summer semester, the event will take place from May 20 to 24 at the Gheorghe Asachi Technical University of Iasi (TUIASI), Romania, and from May 27 to 31 at the University of Rouen Normandy (URN), France. Further information can be found at www.h-ka.de/ingenium. HKA students will soon be able to apply there for participation.
