Contents and procedure of the assessment

Is participation in the assessment voluntary?
Yes, participation is voluntary.

Does it happen that my ranking score becomes worse as a result?
No, it is not possible that the ranking score degrades. On the contrary: You can even improve your admission ranking by up to 0.6 points.

Which grade should I have for it to be worthwhile to take part in the assessment?
We cannot make a general statement on this. Each year, admission to a study program depends on the number of applications and their grades. The candidates are selected by means of a HKA-specific evaluation process based on a ranking number. Your grades in individual subjects are included in this score. However, criteria such as e.g. completed vocational training or participation in the assessment also have a positive effect on the score.

Do I need to prepare for the assessment?
No, you do not need to practice specially.

What is tested for the assessment?
You will only be asked general knowledge questions but not the usual school knowledge. You can answer the questions very easily by logical and structured thinking. Logic understanding of technical basics is also evaluated.

How long takes the assessment?
The assessment day starts in the morning at 9:00 and lasts until early afternoon, depending on the number of participants. The assessment itself - i.e. the time you spend participating in the assessment - lasts approximately 30 minutes. You will be notified of your time slot a few days in advance. It is therefore best to reserve the entire day of the assessment.

Will the assessment take place in-person or online?
In-person, at Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences, building M, room 113
