Assessment, letter of motivation, subject-specific competence test

For some degree programmes - as far as the application procedure is concerned - special features have to be taken into account.

In the description of the documents, it is stated whether you have to enclose a letter of motivation with the application or whether participation in a subject-specific competence test or assessment is possible. You can obtain detailed information on the three special features by clicking on the tabs.

Application for a Bachelor's degree programme into the 1st semester

Step 1: Orientation test
Due to a legal requirement, applicants are supposed to take an orientation test. You can take the university's own orientation test (link to it) or another test (e.g. was-studiere-ich). After receiving a letter of admission, attach the certificate of participation to the necessary enrolment application.

Step 2: Application
You can only apply for admission to the degree programme using the online application form. To apply for admission to a 1st semester in a Bachelor's degree programme, you must first register with Hochschulstart.
Only with the registration data from Hochschulstart can you then register and apply in our applicant portal.

Note on entering grades: Abitur points must be converted into grades and entered in the online application. Conversion table

Please activate the data filled in online at the end of the application processing with "submit online".

Application applications for the 1st semester in a Bachelor's degree programme are purely online applications. They do not have to be sent to the university by post.

Special features for individual degree programmes:

  • Letter of motivation for individual degree programmes
  • Subject-specific competence test in the Bachelor's degree programmes International Management and Industrial Engineering
  • Assessment in the Bachelor's degree programme in Mechanical Engineering

Application to a higher semester (Bachelor)

These applications are made directly on the university's own applicant portal (link to applicant portal) (no registration via Hochschulstart required).
Applications for higher semesters must be printed out and sent to the university by post with the required documents (see Applicant Portal) by the end of the application deadline.
After approval, the university sets the data to "valid" and carries out the allocation procedure.
