HKA: quantum leap in internationalization
INGENIUM is awarded a grant from the "European Universities" funding program. The alliance receives a sum of 14.4 million euros from the EU for four years, of which just under 1.6 million euros will go to HKA.
Project INGENIUM@HKA
Leading the ten universities in the INGENIUM alliance in this project, Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences coordinates and promotes the development of teaching cooperations and transnational teaching offers. Additionally opportunities for individual exchange of experiences are established as well as (virtual) student mobility in the network is stimulated. The activities are embedded in a cooperation framework, steered by decision-makers at the universities and accompanied by cross-university working groups.
Primarily, the project will form international teaching tandems that, with the support of an instructional designer, will offer cross-university courses and provide opportunities for virtual mobility for students from partner universities. In order to network teachers from the universities and to promote the finding of tandem partners, a virtual symposium on teaching in the INGENIUM alliance will take place on 25 Nov 2021. At this, teachers from all partner universities are invited to present and discuss examples from their teaching practice. The discussion about good practice in teaching is intended to provide the cornerstone for a cross-university understanding of good teaching. The long-term goal of all these measures is the development of a common European campus.
The project is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) as part of the accompanying program to the EU initiative "European Universities." The program is implemented through the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). The project has a duration of three years and a volume of 485,560 euros.

Networking Symposium
As part of the INGENIUM project, the first international event took place on November 25, 2021, with HKA hosting the "INGENIUM Networking Symposium: Collaborative Digital Teaching Practice across Europe".
This online event enjoyed a large number of participants, highlighting the interest in internationalization strategies and European Universities. Participants from eight European countries took the opportunity to learn and exchange information on topics related to international collaboration in teaching. They also had the opportunity to network with each other for international, collaborative and digital teaching concepts. The INGENIUM project team accompanied the networking and will continue to be available to support interested teachers in the future.
