Projekt BA.International

The DAAD project "BA.International@HKA" is the most extensive internationalisation effort in the field of teaching and learning at the Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences. The project is set for a period of four years and supports the implementation of the university's own internationalization strategy by increasing physical and digital international student mobility and promoting international and intercultural competencies among students. At the same time, the project links the university's internationalization agenda with its digitization strategy.
The development of a new "Bachelor International" option for our Bachelor degree programs will be at the chore of the project. This international version will extend the study duration of all seven-semester bachelor's degree programs into eight semester standard periods of study. The three central components of the "BA.International" are:

A) the completion of two international semesters,
B) the successful participation in the module "International Competence" as well as
C) the acquisition of advanced foreign language skills.

BA.International students will benefit from an increased flexibility in planning their studies; they will be able to engage in more aspects of international student experience, as well as, interdisciplinary studies.
The BA.International is centrally managed at the HKA International Office. Virtual and blended mobility formats with the TAItech coalition of six major technological universities in Taiwan are an integral part of the project. Our instructional designer at the Center of Teaching Innovation  will provide technical and didactic support for the development of collaborative digital projects.  A “Certificate of International and Intercultural Competence” (CIIC) at the HKA Centre of Competence will be opened to all our students. This CIIC will document the participants’ intercultural engagement, qualified study abroad, language competence and intercultural competence.
